How do I set it up?
Install the Ovis server on your computer with one command. On Linux and macOS:
curl -fsSL https://ovis.sh/install.sh | sh On Windows, in PowerShell: irm https://ovis.sh/install.ps1 | iex On a Mac or Linux, you can download the desktop app instead, which sets everything up for you. Then open it in any browser, or scan the QR code in Settings → Phone & devices with the phone app.
Which coding agents work with Ovis?
With Ovis you read and answer the Claude Code, Codex and other coding agents running on your own computer through herdr and the Ovis server, either as a chat or in the live terminal.
How much does Ovis cost?
The Ovis app is free. It has no ads, no analytics, and no tracking. The Ovis server on your computer is also free and open source under the MIT license.
Can I try Ovis before setting up my computer?
Yes. The connect screen in Ovis has a demo with made-up agents, so you can try the chat view, approval cards, and terminal without a PC.
How do I reach my PC when I am away from home?
Turn on the Ovis relay under Settings → Phone & devices on your PC and scan its QR code with the Ovis app or your phone's camera: the phone then reaches the PC from anywhere, with nothing to set up. It is end-to-end encrypted, so the relay can't read what passes through. Or connect over your own network, such as Tailscale, a VPN, your home Wi-Fi or your own HTTPS proxy.
What if I need to press Esc, Tab, or Ctrl in the terminal?
The agent's own live terminal is always one tap away from the chat view, and includes a dedicated key bar for Esc, Tab and Ctrl.
When will the iPhone and Android apps be available?
Both are in open beta: anyone can join the iPhone (TestFlight) and Android (Google Play) tests at ovis.sh/beta.
Why is it called Ovis?
Ovis is Latin for sheep. herdr herds your agents; Ovis keeps an eye on the herd.
